Box Score 1 | Box Score 2 WINTER PARK, Fla. -- The Barry University men's and women's tennis teams each fell by match scores 6-3, to the Rollins College Tars men and women earlier today in a Sunshine State Conference match-up.

Down 3-0 after doubles, Barry's men (5-1, 1-1 SSC) won three of the six singles matches falling to the Tars (5-0, 4-0 SSC) and short of their second SSC win of the year. Barry's tenth-ranked Thomas Hipp fell to Rollins' 11th-ranked Carlos Custodio 7-6, 4-6, 6-7 at number one singles after having match point in a third set tiebreaker.

Thirty-sixth ranked Gerold Wiring defeated Rollins' Andrew Groslimond 6-3, 6-3 at number three, while Dirk Benninghaus and Fillip Norrman picked up the Bucs' other two points at the five and six single. Both Benninghaus and Norrman picked up three set wins over David Tafur and Drew Sipka respectively.

The Buccaneer men will resume play with SSC opponent Saint Leo on Sunday, Feb 29 at 12 noon in St. Leo, Fla.

The Buccaneer women's team (7-1, 3-1 SSC) started their match with the Rollins women (7-1, 5-1 SSC) down two points defaulting at the number three doubles and six singles. Fighting off an injury plague season, the Bucs dropped all three doubles matches and won three of six singles matches.

Barry's Natascha Leobnitz suffered her first loss of the season at top singles spot falling to Rollins' fifth-ranked Vanessa Caddick 6-3, 6-0. Carole Steinhauser picked up the Buccaneers' first point at the number five slot topping Rollins' Jill Oppenheim 6-2, 6-0.

Greta Trotman and 27th-ranked Maria Lopez picked up Barry's other two points at number two and three singles. Lopez knocked off Tricia Gehret of Rollins 2-6, 6-3, 6-3, while Trotman picked up a huge win downing Rollins' 33rd-ranked Lindsey Soffes 3-6, 7-6, 10-2 after a super tiebreaker third set.

Barry's women will return to action on Sunday, Feb. 29 taking on SSC foes Saint Leo Lions at 12 noon.
