Box Score MIAMI SHORES, Fla. -- The 14th-ranked Barry University baseball team grounded the Lewis Flyers 17-4 earlier today at Feinbloom Field. The Buccaneers (12-3) wrapped up the three-game series taking two of three games from the Flyers (1-3).

Barry's Fausto Farald capped off a four-run first inning smashing a solo home run giving the Bucs an early 4-0 lead. The Flyers responded cutting the lead to 4-3 in the second after a critical Buccaneer error, then Chris Carbonaro tied the game at four apiece with an RBI double to left center in the fifth.

In the bottom half of the same inning, Barry's Brian Lima led off with a single to left field that sparked an eight-run fifth giving the Buccaneers a commanding 12-4 lead. Carlos de la Osa added two more to the Buccaneer lead in the sixth with a two run home run breaking his 0-12 slump. The Bucs added one run in the seventh and two in the eighth to hold on to a 17-4 win.

Faraldo finished 4 of 5 with a home run, three RBI and scored three times to lead the Bucs. Lima and Danny Aguiar each posted three hits and a combined three RBI and four runs scored. Jayson Brown (3-0) gave up four runs (two earned) on six hits, while striking out three to earned the win for Barry.

The Flyers were led by Carbonaro and Matt Newquist who each tallied two hits each. Matt Tanton (0-1) suffered the loss for Lewis giving up eight runs (five earned) on nine hits, while striking out two.

The Buccaneers will resume play on Tuesday, Mar. 2 taking on NCAA Division I Lasalle in Homestead, Fla. The game has been tentatively scheduled for 2:30 pm.
