Box Score MIAMI SHORES, Fla.—The Barry Buccaneers sabotaged the Mercy Flyers 9-1 in baseball action at Feinbloom Field Wednesday night.
Barry tossed nine different pitchers at the Flyers, with
Gerry Guarch (1-0) picking up the win with a scoreless sixth inning. Flyers starter Tony Barcelo (0-3) took the loss, allowing six runs (two earned) on 11 hits with one walk and seven strikeouts.
Barry (7-2) drew first blood when
Carlos de la Osa stole home on the front end of a double steal in the third inning.
But the Flyers (0-8) bounced back to tie the game in the fourth inning on an RBI single by Brett Preshong, scoring Mike Gagliardi.
Barry broke the game open with a five run sixth inning.
Fausto Faraldo reached on a error to start the frame and went to second on a single by
Jerry Thornton.
Alex Meneses blooped a base hit to load the bases and Faraldo came home when Barcelo hit
Cesar Aranguren. Thornton scored on a single by de la Osa and Meneses came home on a fielder's choice by
Brian Lima.
Ricky Sanchez capped the inning with a two-run triple.
Barry added three more runs in the eighth off reliever Alden Shroeder. Aranguren, Lima and Faraldo had RBI.
Barry opens Sunshine State Conference play on Friday at Florida Tech at 2:00 pm.
