Box Score MIAMI SHORES, Fla.—The Barry Buccaneers shot down the Mercy Flyers 19-1 in baseball action at Feinbloom Field on Sunday to win their fourth straight game.
The Bucs got started early and often against the Flyers, scoring 16 runs in the first four innings.
Ricky Sanchez drilled a two-run homer in the first inning to get the offense rolling.
Mercy scored their lone run in the third inning when Mike Gagliardi scored on the front end of a double steal, though Robert DiToma was nailed on the back side of the play.
Barry tacked on six runs in each of the third and fourth innings. Nick Corbiel had a two-run double in the third, while
Jesse Naber drove in two with a single in the fourth.
Brian Lima hit his second homer of the year, a two-run shot, in the fourth as well.
Chris Casale (1-1) scattered seven hits over five innings, walking one and striking out four. He allowed one run. Tony Barcelo (0-2) took the loss for the Flyers, giving up four runs in two innings on four hits with one strike out.
Greg Dicso,
Evan Auerbach, Mike Tomoleoni and
Robert Penna each tossed a scoreless inning of relief in back of Casale.
Alex Meneses, Lima and Naber each drove in four runs on two hits, while
Cesar Aranguren, Sanchez and
Jerry Thornton also had two hits each. Matt McDermott was the only Flyer with two hits.
The teams come back on Wednesday, Feb. 16 at 6:00 pm for the second game of the series.
