Box Score ST. LEO, Fla.—The Barry Buccaneers knocked off the Saint Leo Lions 70-67 at the Bowman Athletic Center on Saturday.

In the first half, The lions built a 13-7 lead in the first 11 minutes. But Barry bounced back to tie the game at 13-13 at the 6:29 mark on a layup by Casey Johnson.

The period ended with a flurry of activity. Barry took a 26-25 lead at the 1:29 mark on a layup by Ronnie Parmer. But SLU's Narada Caldwell grabbed back the lead with a layup of his own. Clifford Smith put Barry up 29-27 with a three-pointer with :11 seconds remaining. Scott Seifert had the last word for the Lions with a three-pointer at the buzzer.

In the second half, Saint Leo took a 65-60 lead at the 3:10 mark, but three free throws by Smith and three-pointer by Johnson gave Barry a 66-65 lead with 1:55 remaining. The Bucs' Ryan Saunders hit four of four from the line down the stretch to seal the win.

Veloso's three-pointer at the buzzer went long and Andy Evans corralled the miss to preserve the win.

Smith scored a career-high 26 points to pace the Bucs. Johnson came off the bench to chip in 12 points.

Scott Seifert led the Lions with 14 points, while Richard Blue added 12.

The Bucs are off until next Saturday, Feb 21 when they host the Eckerd College Tritons for Homecoming 2004. The women's game tips off at 2:00 pm with the men following at 4:00 pm.

The Saint Leo games will be broadcast on the Sunshine Network on Monday Feb. 16 at 9:00 pm for women and 11:00 pm for men. The games will be shown again on Tuesday, Feb. 17 at 10:00 am and noon.
