Box Score MIAMI SHORES – The Barry University baseball team won its fourth straight game knocking of Valdosta State 10-9 in dramatic fashion earlier this afternoon at Feinbloom Field.
The Bucs quickly found themselves in a hole after Valdosta State rallied for four runs in the top half of the first thanks to back-to-back homeruns by Greg Adams and Greg Connell. The Blazers added one more in the third to take a 5-0 lead, however, as the Bucs have done in the past, they exploded for seven runs in their half of the fourth to take a 7-5 lead. The Bucs had seven hits in the seventh and was capped off by a two-run blast from
Cesar Aranguren over the left-field fence.
The Bucs and Blazers then traded blows the rest of the way and the Blazers managed to tie the game in the ninth forcing the Bucs to bat one more time. Barry responded quickly loading the bases for
Jerry Thornton who delivered a one-out walk-off RBI single to end the game and give the Bucs the 10-9 win.
Jesse Naber (1-0) who was brought in ninth earned the victory and Nickolas Kitches picked up the loss (0-1).
Brian Lima was the Bucs top hitter with three hits, while Aranguren and
Danny Aguiar had two RBI's apiece.
The Bucs return to action tomorrow at 1:00 pm against Mercy at Feinbloom Field.
