Box Score MIAMI SHORES – The Barry University baseball team won its third straight game defeating Valdosta State 3-1 earlier today at Feinbloom Field.

Valdosta (3-2) jumped out in front right away scoring one run in the top of the first, however, that lead was quickly erased when Nick Corbeil hit a monstrous two-run homerun over the scoreboard in left-field to put the Bucs out in front 2-1. The Bucs (4-2) then added another run in their half of the fourth on an RBI single by Corbeil which scored Ricky Sanchez from second extending the Bucs lead to 3-1. Sanchez had walked earlier in the inning.

The three runs would be more than enough as Barry starter Jayson Brown was marvelous on the mound. In eight innings the freshman allowed just one earned run on four hits, while striking out four. The win was the first of his collegiate career. Jesse Naber pitched the final frame picking up his second save of the season. Naber was called upon with nobody out and a man on first. After giving up back-to-back hits to load the bases, Naber got Valdosta's number seven and eight hitters to pop out in foul territory before striking out pinch-hitter Ryan Chromek ending the game.

Corbeil finished 2 for 3 on the day with 3 RBI's and Brian Lima was the only other Buc with a multiple hit game going 2 for 4.

Greg Adams and Greg Connell each had two hits for Valdosta.

The two teams meet for the final time tomorrow at noon at Feinbloom Field.
