Box Score MIAMI SHORES – The Barry University baseball slipped past the Lynn Fighting 9-8 earlier tonight at Feinbloom Field.
The Bucs fell behind early allowing Lynn to score one run in each of the first three innings, however, in the bottom of third
Brian Lima got the Bucs on the board after depositing Lynn starter Joe Lakey's pitch over the left-field wall for his first homerun of the season to bring the Bucs to within 3-2.
Lynn then added three more in the top of the fifth to take a 6-2 lead, but the Bucs again responded scoring three runs of their own in the bottom half of the six topped off by back-to-back RBI's doubles by
Alex Meneses and
Jesse Naber. Lynn then added another run in the eighth, however, they were outdone as the Bucs rallied for four runs to take a 9-7 lead heading into the top of the ninth.
Lynn added one more in the ninth, and had the tying run a second with two outs, however, Naber, who was called in from right-field to close out the game, did so by striking out Lynn's Alberto Destrade for the final out of the game.
Alex Meneses was the Bucs top hitter on the night going 3 for 5 with 3 RBI's and 2 runs scored. In addition to his homerun, Lima had a double and single.
Jerry Thornton also continued his hot hitting going 3 for 4 with an RBI an 2 run's scored.
Greg Dicso picked up the win in relief and Naber earned the first save of his collegiate career.
Francisco Dinzey was the Knights top offensive player going 3 for 5 with 2 RBI's.
The Bucs return to action on Friday when they host Valdosta State at 3:00 pm.
