Box Score MIAMI SHORES, Fla.—The Barry Buccaneers (24-3) bounced back from a 2-1 doubles deficit to beat the Rollins College Tars 5-2 in the finals of the NCAA Division II Women's Tennis Southeast II Regional at Buccaneer Tennis Center on Sunday. The win propels the Bucs into the round of 16 of the national tournament May 8-11 at Sanlando Park in Altamonte Springs, Fla. Barry has finished in third place each of the last two years.

In the double, Barry's Victoria Courmes and Maria Lopez dominated Lindsey Soffes and Frances Giron 8-2. But the Tars' Allie Nichlos and Jill Oppenheim rallied from an early break to beat Greta Trotman and Valeria Papandrea 8-3 at number three. At the top flight, Rollins' Carla Prieto turned in a courageous performance. Limited by tendonitis in her serving shoulder, she teamed with Vanessa Caddick to beat Barry's number-eight ranked team of Conny Grunes and Gizella Turbok 9-7. The Rollins (16-6) pair led 6-3, but Barry stormed back to tie it 7-7, before the Tars won the last two games.

Singles play, however, was an entirely different matter. The Buccaneers won the first set at five of the six flights and went on to take all four matches which finished.

Papandrea made short work of Oppenhiem 6-2, 6-1 in only 32 minutes. Courmes knocked out the gutsy Prieto 6-3, 6-2 at number two and Turbok also handled Soffes easily, 6-0, 6-4. Trotman put the capper on the match, beating Nichols 6-1, 6-3.

Barry will face Ouachita Baptist in the first round at nationals. The Tigers clipped the Bucs 5-4 in Pensacola earlier in April, when Lopez was forced to miss the match.
