Box Score ST. PETERSBURG, Fla. -- After a two hour power outage delay, the Barry University baseball team slipped past the Eckerd Tritons 5-4 in the first of a three-game Sunshine State Conference series earlier Friday night.
The Tritons scored early in the first and second innings for a 3-0 lead, but solo home runs from
Ricky Sanchez and
Brian Lima tied the game at three apiece in the fifth. Still tied heading into the eighth, Carlos De la Osa drove in the game winners with a two-run homer.
Chris Casale (3-4) picked up the win hurling seven innings and gave up three runs on nine hits, while striking out seven. Relief pitcher Mike Meagher (3-2) suffered the loss for the Tritons giving up two runs after striking out seven.
The Buccaneers improved to 18-33-1, 4-15 SSC, while the Tritons fell to 26-26, 7-11 SSC. Both teams will resume action on Saturday, May 3 at 1 pm for the final two games of the series and the 2003 regular season.
