Box Score MIAMI SHORES, Fla.--The Barry Buccaneers and the Florida Gulf Coast Eagles played a 13-inning, 11-11 draw on Tuesday night at Feinbloom Field.
The Bucs struck early, scoring nine runs in the first five innings, leading 9-6 after five.
But the Eagles clawed their way back, scoring two in the sixth and one in the seventh to knot the game at 9-9.
In the bottom of the eighth,
Ricky Sanchez hit a one-out solo shot to put Barry up 10-9 and pinch runner
Jerry Thornton later scored on a single by
Brian Lima.
But in the top of the ninth, two errors and a single loaded the bases for FGCU. The Eagles managed a run on a double play by Jason Cooper and plated a second on a single by Chris Brown.
After combining for 32 hits and 22 runs in the first nine innings, neither team could muster any offense in the extra frames.
Barry had the best chance to score in the extra innings in the bottom of the 11th when both leadoff hitter Perez and
Billy Zoffinger were thrown out at the plate by Eagle leftfielder David Cox.
Barry is now 14-24-1, while FGCU is 29-9-2. The Bucs travel to Rollins this weekend for a Sunshine State Conference series against the Tars.
