Box Score 1 | Box Score 2 PENSACOLA, Fla.--The Barry Buccaneers opened the UWF White Sands Invitational Tennis Tournament with a pair of wins on a soggy day at the Skeeter Carson Tennis Center. The men knocked off #9-ranked Armstrong Atlantic 6-3, while the women dumped the host Argonauts by the same score.

The men recovered from a 2-1 deficit in doubles to win the top five singles flights.

Sebastian Losavio and Gerold Wiring took the only point for the Bucs in doubles, knocking off Armstrong's Jonas Askeland and David Secker 8-3 at number three.

Losavio also got the singles parade roling with a 6-4, 6-4 win over Achim Roth at number four. Samir M'Bioka dominated Dale White 6-2, 6-3 at the top flight.

In the women's match, Conny Grunes and Gizella Turbok recovered from a 6-1 deficit in the tiebreaker to win 12-10 and oust West Florida's Nicole Plikat and Pilar Cortes at the top doubles flight 9-8.

The Bucs also grabbed the top three singles flights. Vicotria Courmes routed Sabine Krawietz 6-2, 6-4 at number one and Grunes disposed Ilona Szalai 6-2, 6-3 at number three.

Valeria Papandrea, who started last at number six, finished off Cortes 6-2,, 6-3 to ice the win. The teams then split a pair of third-set super tiebreakers, with Barry's Turbok clipping Plikat 6-0, 3-6, 10-4 and West Florida's Eva Papastratides beating Gretta Trotman 4-6, 6-0, 10-7.

The men improve to 15-1,while Armstong falls to 7-7. The Bucs' women advance to 18-1, while the Argonauts fall to 18-3. The Buccaneer women face off against #5 Georgia College at 9:00 am tomorrow, while the men face #9 Ouachita Baptist at 11:30 am.
