Box Score MIAMI SHORES, Fla.--The Saint Leo Lions defeated the Barry Buccaneers 13-3 in Sunshine State Conference baseball action at Feinbloom Field Friday night.
The Lions (16-27, 5-10 SSC) took a 6-3 lead in to the fifth inning and put the game out of reach with a six-run inning capped by Derrick McNeil's grand slam.
The Lions' Eric Paone (5-5) tossed a complete game, scattering eight hits and five walks, while striking out eight.
Chris Casale (2-4) was tagged with the loss after surrendering eight earned runs on 16 hits in 5.1 innings. He neither walked nor struckout a batter.
The Bucs (14-29-1, 1-2 SSC) were led by
Alex Meneses and
Jerry Thornton who each rapped out two hits.
The series concludes tomorrow with a doubleheader at noon.
