Box Score 1 | Box Score 2 MIAMI SHORES, Fla.--The Florida Tech Panthers swept a Sunshine State Conference baseball doubleheader from the Barry Buccaneers 10-6 and 5-2 at Feinbloom Field Saturday afternoon.

The Panthers scored four runs in the first inning of the first game on a grand slam by cleanup hitter Ryan Self off Barry's Robert Penna (3-2).

Jeff Koehler (7-0) earned the win, pitching eight innings and allowing six runs (five earned) on 10 hits and a walk, while striking out five. Penna allowed five earned runs on five hits and two walks in three innings.

Ricky Sanchez led Barry, going three-for-four at the plate. Mike Fuentes had two hits and drove in three runs for the Bucs.

In the nightcap, Barry led 1-0 after the third inning on an RBI single by Alex Meneses. But the Panthers tied the game up on a solo homer by Self in the top of the sixth.

The Bucs climbed back on top in the bottom of the inning. Chris Casale led off with a single and came home on an error in a rundown by Tech pitcher Matt Van Fleet.

But the Bucs could not push across another run and the Panthers exploded for four runs in the top of the seventh for the win.

Van Fleet (2-1) earned the win in relief of Greg D'Esposito, going 1.2 innings without allowing a hit or run while striking out four of the five batters he faced. Jon Sandola (2-4) was saddled with the loss despite another solid outing. He worked 6.1 innings and allowed five runs on 10 hits, walking three and striking out four.

Barry falls to 13-21, 1-5 in the SSC. Florida Tech improves to 18-19, 5-4 in the conference.
