Box Score MIAMI SHORES, Fla. -- The Barry University baseball team picked up its first Sunshine State Conference win of the season toppling the Florida Tech Panthers 9-1 earlier today at Feinbloom Field.
Carlos de la Osa went three-for-four with two doubles, three runs scored, and three RBI to lead the Bucs past the Panthers. De la Osa put the Bucs on the board first in the bottom half of the third with a two RBI double to right center. In the fifth, he hit a second RBI double to extend the Bucs lead to four. The Bucs went onto add another run in the sixth and three in the seventh for the 9-1 win.
Freshman
Cesar Aranguren followed de la Osa going two-for-four with two RBI, while fellow rookie
Nick Corbeil ended the night with a double and two RBI.
Chris Casale (2-1) got only his second start of the season and hurled eight innings, allowed five hits, one unearned run and fanned four to earn the win for the Bucs. Blake Brock (3-4) gave up five earned runs on six hits and struck two to suffer the loss.
The Buccaneers improved to 13-19 overall and 1-3 in the SSC, while the Panthers fell to 16-19 and 3-4 SSC. Both teams will resume action on Saturday for a doubleheader at 12 noon to complete the three-game conference series.
