Box Score MIAMI SHORES, Fla.--The Lynn Knights defeated the Barry Buccaneers 14-5 in the Sunshine State Conference baseball opener for both teams.

Lynn got on the board first in the opening frame when George Branch drove in Beau McMillian with a sacrifice fly.

But Barry answered back with three runs in the bottom half of the inning. Alex Meneses led off with a double and came home one out later on a double by Billy Zoffinger. Zoffinger trotted home ahead of Carlos de la Osa who smacked his fifth homer of the season.

But that was all the offense the Bucs could muster, while the Knights added 13 runns in the fourth through eighth innings.

Branch and David Gareipy each had three hits for the Knights (22-6, 1-0 SSC). The Bucs (12-16, 0-1 SSC) were paced by de la Osa who had two hits.

Travis Osborn (8-0) remained perfect winning his eighth straight start for Lynn. He went 6.1 innings, allowing five runs (four earned) on five hits and four walks, while striking out six. Chris Casale (1-1) took the loss in his first start, going five innings and giving up seven runs (five earned) on seven hits and two walks. He struck out one.

The series concludes tomorrow at noon with a double header.
