Box Score MIAMI SHORES -- The Barry University baseball team fell to the Flyers of Lewis University in an extra innings thriller 13-10 Sunday afternoon at Feinbloom Field.
The Buccaneers, trailing 8-2 into the bottom half of the ninth, exploded offensively scoring six runs on four hits including a two run game tying double by pinch-hitter
Brian Lima which pushed the game into extra frames.
In the tenth, Lewis quickly jumped on top scoring two runs on two hits off of Buccaneer reliever
Gerry Guarch to take a 10-8 lead, however, the Bucs once again responded, also scoring two in the bottom half of the inning. The Bucs again found themselves down to their last out when
Billy Zoffinger doubled to right-center and eventually came around to score on back-to-back wild pitches.
In the eleventh, the resilient Flyers scored three more runs on five hits to take a 13-10. This time the Bucs were unable to respond and took a 13-10 loss in 11 innings.
Offensively, the Bucs were led by
Alex Meneses and
Billy Zoffinger who had two hits apiece with Meneses driving in two and scoring one, while Zoffinger drove in one and scored one.
Brian Lima finished 1-2 with 2 RBI.
The Bucs return to action on March 5th at 2:00 pm against Wingate in North Carolina.
