Box Score HOMESTEAD – The Barry University baseball team defeated CW Post 21-11 in a seven inning slugfest at the Homestead Sports Complex Wednesday night.
The Bucs jumped out to an early lead, scoring two runs in the top of the first, but CW Post quickly responded scoring five runs of their own in the bottom of the inning to take over the lead.
Barry then scored 19 runs over the next six innings including a nine run sixth, while the Buccaneer pitching staff held the CW Post offense at bay allowing them only six more runs before the game was suspended due to time concerns.
The Buccaneer offense, which racked up 21 runs on 20 hits was lead by
Alex Meneses and
Nick Corbeil who were both perfect on the night. Meneses went 5 for 5 and with three RBI's and three runs scored, while Corbeil was 4 for 4 with two double's, two RBI's and five run's scored. Freshman catcher
Michael Fuentes was equally impressive racking up three hits and five RBI's including a two run homerun that went sailing over the leftfield wall giving him his first homerun of his collegiate career.
Carlos de la Osa also added his fourth homerun of the season.
Buccaneer reliever
Jon Adams picked up the win improving his record to 1-2.
The Bucs return to action Sunday afternoon as they play host to Molloy College in an afternoon doubleheader beginning at 12:00 noon at Feinbloom Field.
