Box Score MIAMI SHORES, Fla. -- The Barry University women's tennis team clipped the NCAA Division I American University Eagles 7-2 at the Buccaneer Tennis Complex on Tuesday.
At the #2 doubles, Cornelia Grunes and Valeria Papandrea paired up to outlast the Eagles' Katarina Kollarova/Kristina Georgieva team 9-7 as the Bucs swept all three doubles matches.
In singles, Victoria Courmes led the way for the Bucs at the #1 flight, defeating Katarina Kollarova 6-2, 6-3. Grunes, Gizella Turbok, and Maria Lopez also posted singles wins at the the number two, three and six as the Bucs rolled to the easy victory.
The Buccaneer improved to 10-1 overall, while the Eagles fell to 1-4. The Buccaneers return to the clay on Saturday in Lakeland, Fla. facing off with Florida Southern at 10 am and Tampa at 2 pm in Sunshine State Conference action.
