Box Score MIAMI SHORES, Fla.--The Barry baseball team dropped a 3-1 heart-breaker to the Nova Southeastern Knights Tuesday evening at Feinbloom Field.
The Bucs struck first in the opening inning.
Alex Meneses led off with a double and scored one out later on a double by
Billy Zoffinger. But that was all the offense the Bucs could muster off Knight starter Kyle Ruwe (3-2). Ruwe tossed a complete game, scattering seven hits and walking one, with eight strikeouts.
The Bucs squandered a golden pitching performance by freshman
David Schmidt (0-1) in his first start. He went eight innings, allowing just six hits and a walk, while striking out five. He gave up all three runs, though only two were earned.
In the sixth inning, three Buccaneer errors allowed the Knights to score one run without a hit. Then in the eighth inning, Freddie Pagan led off with a single and Jason Sullivan followed with a homer that provided the final margin.
Barry falls to 9-14, while Nova improves to 11-11. The Bucs travel down to Homestead, Fla., tomorrow to take on C.W. Post at 7:00 pm.
