Box Score LAKELAND, Fla.--The Barry Buccaneers used stifling defense and hot shooting to oust the Lynn Knights from the Sunshine State Conference Men's Basketball Tournament Saturday afternoon at Jenkins Fieldhouse.
The five different Bucs hit six of 12 from three-point range in the first half to build a 33-21 advantage at the intermission.
Defensively, Barry held the Knights to 29.6 percent from the floor in the first half and 37.0 percent for the game.
Luis Vazquez-Bello led the Bucs with 16 points, while Ronald Lewis added 11. Austin Faber led the Knights with 12 points.
It was the fourth straight year that Lynn has been eliminated in the first round. The Knights last tournament win was in 1999, 78-61 over Eckerd. Barry won it's first-round game for the fourth time in five years.
Barry (18-9) advances to play the winner of the Rollins-Florida Tech game on Sunday at 8:00 pm.
