Men's Basketball Ends Regular Season On High Note

Box Score BOCA RATON, FL – The Lynn Fighting Knights (15-12 Overall, 7-7 Sunshine State Conference) were defeated by the Barry University men's basketball team(17-9, 7-7) by the score of 59-47 on Saturday evening at the de Hoernle Sports Center.

Barry held a slim 4-point lead, 27-23, at the break, but saw the Fighting Knights open up the second half on a 6-point run to take the lead, 29-27, at the 14:46 mark.

The Buccaneers countered and opened up a double-digit lead, 37-27, with 5:38 left and would never left Lynn seriously threaten opening up a game-high 14-point cushion, 59-45, with 1:27 remaining in the game.

Justin Wingard led the way for LU with a game-high 18 points and nine rebounds. Lindsay Critten had 11 points and Cedric Bennett came off the bench with 8.

Yorell Calderon led the way for Barry with a team-high 16 points, including a trio of three-pointers. Nick Perez and Luis Vazquez-Bello added 13 and 11 points, respectively.

The Knights will next be in action on Saturday against Barry in the first round of the 2003 Sunshine State Conference Tournament. Tip-off is set for 12:00 pm
