Box Score MIAMI, Fla.--The Barry Buccaneers skinned the St. Thomas Bobcats 13-3 in a game shortened to eight innings at Esposito Stadium Tuesday night.
The Bucs jumped out to a quick lead and coasted to the 10-run win.
Alex Meneses, who went four-for-four with a run and two RBI and reached base all six times he came to the plate, was the offensive star for Barry (5-6).
Billy Zoffinger and
Keith Barton each added three RBI and
Cesar Aranguren scored three runs for the Bucs, who won for the four time in five games. Barton knocked his sixth homer of the season in the eighth inning to provide the final margin.
Jose Nodal led St. Thomas (3-11) with three hits.
Greg Dicso (1-1) picked up the win with four scoreless innings in relief or starter
Robert Penna. Dicso allowed four hits and struck out three without walking a batter. Penna went four innings, allowing seven hits and six walks with one strikeout. Two of his three runs were earned.
Ivan Izquierdo (0-2) took the loss for the Bobcats. He worked 2.2 innings, allowing seven runs (three earned) on five hits and three walks, while striking out five. He also hit four batters.
Barry travels over to Nova Southeastern tomorrow, before heading out to St. Petersburg, Fla., to play the Eckerd Tritons in a three-game set over the weekend.
