Box Score MIAMI SHORES -- The Barry University baseball team overpowered Mercy College for the second straight day defeating the Flyers 14-2 Sunday afternoon at Feinbloom Field.
The Bucs jumped out in front early on, scoring seven runs in the bottom half of the first and then scored seven more over the next eight innings to seal the victory.
On the mound, Buccaneer John Sandola earned his first victory of the year pitching six strong innings allowing just five hits and one earned run, while walking two and striking out two.
Offensively the Bucs racked up 13 hits including a three hit performance by
Billy Zoffinger who paced the Bucs with two doubles and two RBI.
Alex Meneses and
Keith Barton added two hits apiece with Meneses driving in three runs and scoring two, while Barton knocked his fifth homerun of the season over the leftfield wall.
Brett Preshong led Mercy with going 2 for 4 with 1 RBI.
The Bucs return to action Tuesday as they visit St. Thomas at 6:30 pm.
