Box Score MIAMI SHORES, Fla.--The Barry Buccaneers showed no mercy to the Mercy College Flyers, knocking them off 20-1 at Feinbloom Field Saturday night.
The Bucs (3-6) opened the flood gates in the first inning, scoring nine runs.
Ricky Sanchez and
Nick Corbeil each belted two-run homers and
Keith Barton had a pair of two run singles in the inning.
Barton finished the night four-for-six with a homer and seven RBI. Sanchez,
Alex Meneses and
Billy Zoffinger each had three hits.
Alex Gonzalez (2-1) pitched seven strong innings to earn the win for Barry. He allowed five hits and two walks, leading to one run, while striking out four. Mark Avery (0-2) started for Mercy (0-4), but did not get out of the first inning, allowing seven hits, one walk and nine runs (seven earned).
The game was the third year in a row that Barry has scored at least 20 runs in a game against the Flyers. The teams come back tomorrow to complete the series with a single game at 1:00 pm.
