Box Score MIAMI SHORES, Fla.--The Barry men's basketball team gored the Toritos of Puerto Rico-Cayey 70-53 in the Health & Sports Center Tuesday night.

The Toritos (0-7) jumped out to a 13-6 lead after six minutes behind nine points from Omar Valentin. But the Bucs responded with a 15-2 run over the next eight minutes to lead 21-15 and they carried a 26-21 lead into the intermission.

In the second half, Barry extended its lead to double figures. The final margin was the largest lead of the game.

Clifford Smith scored 20 points and Casey Johnson added 14 off the bench for the Buccaneers (2-0). Valentine led the Toritos with 20 points. Ryan Saunders fell two rebounds and two assists short of a triple-double, scoring 11 points and lead the Bucs with eight rebounds and eight assists.

Barry hosts the second team from the island on Wednesday as the Tarzans of Puerto Rico-Mayaguez visit the Health & Sports Center.
