Box Score MIAMI SHORES, Fla. -- The Saint Leo University (4-7) men's basketball team surprised Barry University (10-2) 48-43 Saturday afternoon in a non-conference game.
Trailing 20-17 with seven minutes left in the first half, Saint Leo outscored the home team 14-2 to take a 31-22 lead into the dressing room. Junior guard Javier Veloso hit a pair of 3-pointers for the Lions, while freshman guard Scott Seifert scored five points to spark the visitors.
After Barry tied the score at 36-36 with 8:32 remaining in regulation, Shaw and Lyngse hit back-to-back 3-pointers over the next 58 seconds to give Saint Leo the lead for good at 42-36.
The Buccaneers were led by
Nick Ellingsworth-Perez with 10 points and Bryan Mills with nine points.
Colin Shaw paced the Lions on offense with 15 points, while freshman forward Brandon Lyngse chipped in with 11 points and six rebounds.
