Box Score 1 | Box Score 2 MIAMI SHORES, Fla.--The Barry Buccaneers befuddled the Saint Leo Lions to sweep a pair of Sunshine State Conference softball games 4-0 and 7-0 at Buccaneer Field Saturday afternoon.

Geralyn Elam (16-2) picked up both wins for the Buccaneers with two complete-game shutouts. In game one she was nothing short of dominent, allowing only an infield single in the sixth inning and striking out a school-record 18, including 15 in a row from the first to the sixth inning. In game two she was only slightly less effective, giving up two hits and two walks while striking out nine.

In game one, Hillary Hamilton led the offense with a two-for-two outing, scoring one run. Nora Conroy also had two hits and one run, while Sarah White had two hits and one RBI.

Heather Gamlin (18-7) took the loss in the first game allowing four runs, one earned, on nine hits and five walks. She struck out five.

In game two, the Bucs pounded out 11 hits, including solo homers by Delilah Stroup and KD Smith in the sixth inning to cap off the scoring. Smith also added an RBI double. Jenny Miranda was two-for-two with two RBI.

Lacey Hardesty (10-3) was tagged with the loss for Saint Leo despite no giving up an earned run. She tossed five innings giving up five unearned runs on nine hits and struck out two.

With 27 strikeouts on the day, Elam now has 203 strikeouts and becomes just the second Buccaneer pitcher to top the 200-strikeout mark. She is 21 strikeouts shy of Stephanie Caldwell's school record of 224 strikeouts set in 1999.

Barry improves to 25-7, 10-2 in the SSC and takes over sole possession of first place. Saint Leo drops to 28-10, 8-4 in the conference. The Bucs host Florida Southern on Sunday, April 7 at 1:00 pm.
