Box Score MIAMI SHORES, Fla. -- Coming off a great weekend, the Barry University baseball team came up short at home falling to the Lynn Fighting Knights 6-2 earlier tonight in non-conference action.
Two costly Buccaneer errors led to two Knight unearned runs in the first two innings, but the Buccaneers bounced back and tied the game at two a piece on a two RBI single by Adam Toro. The Knights scored the go ahead run in the fourth then topped things off with a three-run homer in the fifth by David Gariepy, his sixth of the season. It was all the Knights needed to seal the 6-2 victory over the Buccaneers.
Enriques Baca (7-2) earned the win for the Knights hurling five innings, while giving up two unearned runs on four hits and struck out nine. Robert Penna (1-3) took the loss for the Buccaneers after pitching five innings and giving up six runs (four earned) on six Knight hits, while striking out six.
Adam Toro paced the Bucs going two-for-four with two RBI, while Gariepy paced the Knights going one-for-three with three RBI. Lynn's Juan Colon was also one-for-three and scored three times.
The Buccaneers fell to 23-23 overall on the season, while the Knights improved to 27-25 overall. The Buccaneers will resume action on Friday, May 3 for their final conference series ending the 2002 season with Florida Southern. The first game of the series is scheduled for 1 p.m.
