Box Score 2 MIAMI SHORES, Fla. -- The Barry University baseball team got rattled earlier today by the Rollins College Tars in a Sunshine State Conference doubleheader falling 9-6 in the first game and 5-0 in the nightcap.
In the first game, starter Jonathan Sandola got a no-decision through five innings, while also giving up five runs on eleven hits. Gerry Guarch (2-2) took the loss for the Buccaneers after giving up two unearned runs on two hits. Nick Manson (6-2) earned the win for the Tars after hurling 2.2 innings giving up two hits, while striking out four. Rollins starter, Dennis Cavilla, pitched the first 4.2 innings giving up four runs on nine hits and struck out six.
The Bucs were paced by Joglys Ramos who when three-four-four with two RBI. Rey Fuentes followed going two-for-four and scored three times.
Juan Dieguez led the Tars in game one going four-for-six with an RBI and a run scored.
In game two, Gator Brooks (8-1) earned the win for the Tars going 5.2 innings and allowed four hits, while striking out seven. Keith Hameister (4-4) took the loss for the Bucs after hurling three innings and giving up five runs (three earned) on six hits, while striking out three.
Joglys Ramos led the Bucs again in game two going two-for-two followed by Luis Boullon who went two-for-three.
Ryan Hanigan, Mike Reese, and Paul Jones all paced the Tars in game two going two-for-three. Hanigan also scored twice while Reese and Jones each added an RBI.
The Buccaneers fell to 21-20 overall and 4-11 in the SSC while the Tars improved to 35-12 and 9-6 in the SSC. The Buccaneers will return to action hosting Nova Southeastern on Wednesday, Apr. 24 at Feinbloom Field. Game time is scheduled for 6 pm.
