Box Score MIAMI SHORES, Fla. -- The Barry University baseball team snapped a three-game losing skid earlier tonight sinking the Rollins College Tars 7-2 in Sunshine State Conference action at Feinbloom Field.
Fernando Tapia (6-5) earned the win for the Buccaneers hurling a complete game, while giving up two runs (one earned) on eight hits, while striking out four. The Tars sent four pitchers to the hill in the sixth inning, but starter Rob Sitz (8-3) ended up taking the loss giving up three runs on eight hits with one strikeout.
The Bucs were paced by freshman Brian Lima who went two-for-three with a double and three RBI. Luis Boullon and Alex Lorenzo also went two-for-three with Boullon scoring twice and Lorenzo scoring once.
Jeff Halbert and Pung Jeffers led the Tars going two-for-three while Halbert added an RBI.
With the win, the Buccaneers improve to 21-18 overall and 4-9 in the SSC, while the Tars fall to 33-12 overall and 7-6 in the SSC. Both teams will resume action Saturday, Apr. 20 at 1 p.m. for the final two games of the three-game series.
