Baseball Swept By Spartans

Box Score 1 | Box Score 2 TAMPA, Fla. -- The University of Tampa Spartans completed a three-game sweep over the Buccaneers in Sunshine State Conference action at Sam Bailey Field winning game two 3-2 and game three 8-3.

Jonathan Sandola (3-1) got a no-decision for the Buccaneers in game two of the series hurling eight innings and giving up two unearned runs on five hits, while striking out five. John Vinciguerra (2-2) took the loss for the Bucs giving up one unearned run on 1 hit. Corey Keegan (4-1) earned the win for the Spartans coming in the game as a reliever in the eighth striking out three and gave up one Buccaneer hit.

In the final game of the series, Keith Hameister (4-3) took the loss for the Bucs giving up seven runs (five earned) on ten hits. Eric Beattie (3-3) earned the win for the Spartans going six innings and giving up three runs on five hits, while striking out four.

Joey Apotheker led the Bucs in today's doubleheader going four-for-seven with an RBI and three runs scored. In the today's nightcap, Joglys Ramos was two-for-four with two RBI.

The Bucs are now 20-18 overall and 3-9 in the SSC, while the Spartans improved to 24-16 and 10-2 in the conference. The Bucs will return home next week hosting Rollins College in a three-game conference series beginning at 6 p.m Friday, Apr. 19.
