Box Score MIAMI SHORES, Fla.--The Tri-State University Thunder found the weather to their liking as they defeated the Barry Buccaneers 8-3 at Feinbloom Field Saturday night.
The Thunder scored three runs each in the sixth and seventh innings. Todd Babij led the offensive effort for the Thunder with three hits and two RBI.
Alex Gonzalez (1-4) took the loss for the Buccaneers. He pitched 5.2 innings, allowing five earned runs on nine hits and two walks, while striking out four. Ray Sterling (1-0) earned the win with seven innings of three hit ball. Hea allowed three unearned runs, walking one with three strikeouts.
Barry drops to 10-8, while Tri-State evened its record at 1-1. The teams play the second game of the series tomorrow at 1:00 pm.
