Baseball Falls To Tritons

Box Score MIAMI SHORES, Fla. -- After posting a 3-1 record on the road last week, the Barry University baseball team returned to the friendly confines of Feinbloom Field falling to the Eckerd College Tritons 5-2 in the season's conference opener.

Keith Hameister (3-2) took the loss for the Buccaneers. He hurled a no-hitter going into the seventh, but gave up five runs (four earned) on seven hits and four strikeouts through 7.1 innings. Derek Dion (5-3) earned the win for the Tritons going the distance giving up two runs on seven Buccaneer hits, while striking out four.

The Bucs were led by Joglys Ramos who went two-for-four with two RBI. Rey Fuentes also went two-for-four on the night.

Chris Rosende paced the Tritons with a two-for-four performance with an RBI and scoring twice.

The Buccaneers fall to 16-10 overall and 0-1 in the Sunshine State Conference, while the Tritons improve to 21-14 and 1-0 in the SSC. Both teams will conclude the three game series with a double-header scheduled for Saturday, Mar. 23 at 1 p.m.
