Softball Splits In Day One At Osprey Invitational

Box Score 1 | Box Score 2 JACKSONVILLE, Fla. -- The Barry University softball team split a pair of games in day one of the Osprey Invitational defeating Queens 1-0 in game one and then falling to Lenoir-Rhyne 7-2 in game two.

In game one, the score was tied until the bottom of the seventh. Jenny Miranda sparked life into the game with a lead-off single then stole two bases while Heather Hodges hit the game winning RBI single to give the Bucs the win 1-0 versus Queens.

Erin Cormier (3-0) earned the win throwing 7.0 innings giving up five hits, two walks, and struck out five. Johanna Millf (0-2) took the loss for Queens pitching 7.0 innings giving up one run on only three hits, while striking out four.

In game two, the Buccaneers struggled and fell to Lenoir-Rhyne 7-2.

Lindsey Rhodes (1-3) took the loss for the Bucs pitching 7.0 innings giving up seven runs (four earned) on five hits, and four walks, while striking out nine. Kelly Mazone (3-2) earned the win for Lenoir-Rhyne giving up two runs on 11 hits, while striking out five.

Heather Hodges led the Bucs in game two going two-for-three with a double and an RBI, while Jenny Miranda went two-for-three with an RBI. Hilary Hamilton went two-for-four and Lindsey Rhodes registered two doubles.

The Bucs fall to 8-4 overall and will resume action at the Osprey Invitational facing off with North Florida at 9 a.m., Armstrong Atlantic at 1 p.m. and wrap things up against Kennesaw State at 7 p.m.
