Box Score MIAMI SHORES, Fla. -- The Barry University baseball team grounded the Lewis University Flyers 7-4 earlier tonight at Feinbloom Field.

The Buccaneers jumped out to an early 1-0 lead in the first inning, but on a solo homer in the top of the second by Todd Kozlowski evened things up. However, in the bottom of the second, Adam Toro's two-run home run gave the Bucs a 3-1 lead.

The Flyers were able to tie the game in the top of the sixth 4-4, but a three-run eighth inning sparked by an RBI triple from Alex Lorenzo gave the Bucs the lift they needed for the 7-4 win.

Gerry Guarch (1-0) earned his first win of the season after coming in the game in the top of the seventh with the game tied. He hurled 3.0 innings giving up only one hit, no runs, and struck out one. Keith Hameister got the start throwing 6.0 innings giving up four runs on 11 hits, while striking out six. Matt Tanton (0-1) took the loss for the Flyers throwing 1.2 innings giving up three runs (one earned) and striking out one.

The Bucs were led by Joglys Ramos who went three-for-four with a double and two RBI, while teammate Adam Toro went two-for-four with a homer, two RBI and scored once. Ricky Sanchez tallied two hits, one RBI, and scored twice.

The Buccaneers improved to 7-6 overall while the Flyers fell to 1-1. The Bucs will resume action with game two of the three-game series with Lewis tomorrow at 6:00 p.m. at Feinbloom Field.
