Box Score 2 MIAMI SHORES, Fla.--The Barry Buccaneers and St. Thomas Bobcats split a softball double header at Buccaneer Field Wednesday afternoon in the season opener from both teams.
St. Thomas (1-1) won the first game 7-3, while Barry (1-1) took the nightcap 4-1.
The Bobcats rapped out all six of their hits and took advantage of one Barry error to score six runs in the fifth inning of game one. Melinda Collins had a two-run single in the frame.
Jessica Millar (1-0) went the distance for St. Thomas allowing eight hits and three runs, one earned. Lindsey Rhodes (0-1) took the loss for the Buccaneers allowing all seven runs, five earned, on five hits and five walks, while striking out two.
In game two, Erin Cormier (1-0) earned the win with five solid innings. She allowed one run on three hits and struck out four. Geralyn Elam picked up her first save of the season with two perfect innings. Sarah White paced the offense with single, double and two RBI.
Lillith Reller (0-1) took the loss for St. Thomas allowing two unearned runs in two innings work.
The Bucs are back in action on Wednesday, Feb. 13 at 6:00 pm against Nova Southeastern.
