Box Score FT. LAUDERDALE, Fla. – The Barry University baseball team scored three runs in the first and six in the fourth innings to eventually upend the Nova Southeastern Knights 11-7 earlier tonight despite a late three-run ninth inning rally.
Fernando Tapia (3-1) earned his third consecutive win of the season pitching 7.0 innings allowing three runs (two earned) on seven hits, allowing no walks, while striking out five. Jimmy Sessions (0-1) took the loss for the Knights after walking the first three to start the game. He hurled 3.1 innings giving up eight runs on seven hits with five walks and three strikeouts.
Joglys Ramos who went three-for-four with an RBI led the Buccaneers. Adam Toro followed with a two-for-five performance with a double and two RBI, while Alex Lorenzo went two-for-four with two RBI. Luis Boullon added a game-high four RBI.
Freddie Pagan paced the Knights going three-for-four with a double, triple, and an RBI.
The Buccaneers improved to 6-6 overall while the Knights fell to 4-10. The Bucs will return to action at Fienbloom Field this weekend with a three-game series with Lewis University starting Friday, Mar. 1 at 6:00 p.m.
