Box Score MIAMI SHORES, Fla.--The Florida Southern Moccasins spoiled the Barry Buccaneers' Senior Day, winning 71-59 in the Health & Sports Center Saturday afternoon.
The Mocs led 31-30 at the half, but quickly built a double-figure lead, going up 50-40 with 12:38 remaining on a three-pointer by Matt Story. They extended the lead to 58-42 at the 9:14 mark.
But the Bucs battled back to cut the lead to 60-57 at the 3:01 mark on a pair of free throws by Curtis Tonge.
The Mocs would not be denied, however, as they scored the next seven points to rebuild a 10-point lead and hit four-of-four free throws in the final minute to seal the win.
Christophe Humbert led Florida Southern with 16 points, while Derek Heard added 13 and Story added 12. Yorell Calderon led Barry with 13 and Ronald Lewis chipped in 10.
Florida Southern closes the regular season 18-8, 9-5 in the Sunshine State Conference. Barry falls to 14-11, 7-7 in the league.
The conference tournament is Mar. 1-3 in Melbourne, Fla., on the campus of Florida Tech. Seeding will be announced on Sunday, Feb. 24.
