Baseball Falls to Lions

Box Score MIAMI SHORES, Fla. -- The Barry University baseball team gave up ten earned runs falling to the Florida Memorial Lions 11-3 earlier tonight at Fienbloom Field.

Alex Gonzalez (1-3) took the loss for the Buccaneers throwing for 5.1 innings giving up eight runs (seven earned) on ten hits, two walks, while striking out five. Howard Cuervo (1-0) earned his first win of the season going 6.0 innings giving up two runs (one earned) on six hits while striking out four.

The Bucs were led by Joey Apotheker who went 2-for-3 at the plate with a double and an RBI.

The Buccaneers fall to 5-6 overall, while the Lions improve to 5-5. The Bucs will return to action in a non-conference meeting against Florida Tech on Friday, Feb. 22 at 1:00 p.m. at the Florida Southern Invitational in Lakeland, Fla.
