Basketball Sweeps Saint Leo

Box Score ST. LEO, Fla.--The Barry University basketball teams swept a Sunshine State Conference double-header from the Saint Leo Lions Saturday at the Bowman Center.

The Buccaneer men clipped the Lions 60-47. Curtis Tonge led all scorers with 17 points, while Yorell Calderon and Luis Vazquez-Bello each added 15. Frank Craig led Saint Leo with 14 points.

The Bucs led 27-24 at the half, but broke the game open with a 7-0 run to start the second half.

Barry improves to 13-10, 6-6 in the SSC. Saint Leo falls to 7-17, 1-11 in the league.

In the women's game, the Bucs shot a blistering 51.4 percent from the floor in the first half, en route to a 76-58 win.

The Bucs sprinted to a 39-23 lead at the half and maintained their double-figure lead throughout the remainder of the game.

Carolina Santamarina led all scorers with 19 points for the Bucs. Jaida Williams added 18 points and 12 rebounds and Amra Alagic had 12 points. Ebony Winn led Saint Leo with 16 points.

Barry improves to 13-11, 7-5 in the SSC. Saint Leo falls to 8-16, 3-9 in the conference.
