Box Score MIAMI, Fla. -- The Florida International women's tennis team defeated Barry University 6-1 earlier this afternoon and the University Park Tennis Center. FIU opened their season 1-0, while Barry falls to 0-2 on the season.

The Panthers won all three of the doubles matches (No. 3 doubles by default) and won five of the six singles matches (No. 6 singles by default). FIU's Anneliese Rose defeated Barry's Victoria Courmes 6-2, 6-2 in No. 1 singles. Rose and Cristina Campana also teamed up to win the No. 1 doubles match 8-3.

Barry's Gizella Turbok is the only Buccaneer to post a win against the Panthers in the No. 2 singles match defeating FIU's Campana 6-2, 6-2.

The Buccaneers will resume action on Sunday, Feb. 3 hosting Florida Atlantic at 10 a.m.
