Box Score MIAMI, Fla. -- The Barry University men's basketball team got off to an early 9-0 lead over the Florida Memorial Lions , but were unable to hold on falling 60-53.
Curtis Tonge put the Buccaneers out in front in the first half scoring the first five points of the game which led to a 28-27 Buccaneer halftime lead. However, in the second half the Lions came out on fire hitting 53 percent from the field capturing the lead and holding on for the 60-53 victory over the Bucs.
Tonge paced the Buccaneer efforts with 16 points while Andres Alfonso came in off the bench and added 14. Bryan Mills capped off the night grabbing a team-high 7 boards.
Danny Sampson led the Lions with 27 points while Cornelius Gordan snagged a team-high 10 boards.
The Buccaneers fell to 2-3 on the season while the Lions earned their first victory of the season to improved to 1-4.
The Buccaneers will return to action on Tuesday, November 27 hosting Nova Southeastern at the Health and Sports Center at 7:30 pm.
