Box Score MIAMI SHORES, Fla. -- The Barry University men's basketball team were one point shy of tapping the century mark earlier tonight blinding the Owls of Puerto Rico-Cayey 99-54.
The Buccaneers were 20 of 34 from the field in the first half to carry a comfortable 51-30 lead into the half. For the game, the Buccaneers outshot the Owls by nearly 30 percent hitting 39 of 66 from the field.
Yorell Calderon (5-11, G, Levittown, Puerto Rico) paced six double-figure scorers for the Bucs with 22 points. Luis Vazquez-Bello (6-7, F, Miami, Fla.) tallied 16 points while teammates Ronald Lewis, Curtis Tonge, and Lincoln Glasford had 13, 11, and 10 points respectively.
Transfer, Bryan Mills (6-7, F, Eugene, Ore.) registered his first career double-double as a Buccaneer tallying 12 points and a team-high 12 boards. Jordan Sztern (6-1, G, Montreal, Quebec) dished out a team-high nine assists.
Ricardo Santiago paced the Owls with 18 points while Axel Rivera grabbed a team-high nine rebounds.
The Buccaneers improved to 2-2 overall while the Owls fell to 0-6. Barry travels across town tomorrow to take on the Lions of Florida Memorial at 7:00 pm. The Bucs will return to action in the HSC on Tuesday, November 27 hosting Nova Southeastern. Game time is scheduled for 7:30 pm.
