LOUISVILLE, Ky. – The Barry Buccaneers volleyball trifecta earned the 2026 American Volleyball Coaches Association (AVCA) Team Academic Award. The Bucs were one of four universities in all of collegiate volleyball to earn the award for all three teams. Barry was the only NCAA Division II school reach the feat joining Division I's Pepperdine, Stanford, and Hawai'i.

It is the second straight year that all three teams have earned Team Academic Award honors. The indoor women's team has been named 17 times overall, being honored for the third year in a row. The women's beach team has earned the honor in all three seasons of competition. The men's indoor team has also earned the award in both years of the program's existence.

To earn the AVCA Team Academic Award a team must maintain a year-long grade-point average of at least 3.3 on a 4.0 scale (or a 4.1 on a 5.0 scale). Women's beach led the way for the Bucs with a 3.668 GPA, women's indoor calculated a 3.478 GPA, and the men's indoor team earned a 3.431 GPA.

Petra Brkicic and Diego Alvarez were the only two Buccaneers to hold a 4.0 GPA throughout the whole 2025-26 academic year.

Barry was one of three teams in the Sunshine State Conference that earned the honor for both women's indoor and beach, joining Eckerd and Florida Southern.
