MELBOURNE, Fla. -- The Barry Buccaneers took the finale in their Sunshine State Conference baseball doubleheader with the Florida Tech Panthers at Seminick-Hall Field on Saturday. After dropping the first game 7-3, the Bucs bounced back to win the finale 18-9.

  • B3 - The Panthers scored twice in the third. Justis Meadows and Adrian Dominguez each had RBI singles. | Tech 3, Barry 0
  • B5 - Cortale hit another solo homer. | Tech 4, Barry 0
  • B7 - Cortale hit a two-run shot in the seventh. | Tech 6, Barry 0
  • T8 - The Bucs finally broke through with three runs in the eighth. Christian Perez walked to lead off. Two outs later, he scored on a triple by Zavier Hatfield. Lee-Anthony Santiago followed with an RBI double and came around to score on a triple by Jalen Smith. | Tech 6, Barry 3
  • B8 - Gabe Roque, who led off with a single, moved over and came in on a pair of wild pitches. | Tech 7, Barry 3

NOTEWORTHY:

  • Jaxon Clampitt (2-5) worked seven scoreless innings, allowing two hits and a walk with six strikeouts to earn the won.
  • Mason Blocker (1-4) also went seven innings, allowing six runs (four earned) on seven hits and a walk to take the loss. 
  • Smith had two of the Bucs' six hits, a double and an triple.  
  • Cortale went 3-for-4 with three homers and four RBI to lead the Panthers.

  • T1 - Barry struck first in the finale. Hatfield, Santiago and Smith led off with three straight singles for the first run. Luca Mendez knocked in Santiago with a single and later scored on a wild pitch. | Barry 3, Tech 0
  • B4 - Dominguez reached on an error and later scored on a ground out. | Barry 3, Tech 1
  • T5 - Smith belted a two-run homer for the Bucs. | Barry 5, Tech 1
  • T6 - Aidan Heffner hit a solo shot to extend the lead. | Barry 6, Tech 1
  • B6 - The Panthers sent 11 men to the plate and scored six runs on six hits. Cole Patrick, Roque, Cortale and Dominguez all had RBI singles. | Tech 7, Barry 6
  • T7 - After Santiago singled and Anthony Tralongo walked, Mendez, Opie and Heffner had singles to drive in three runs. | Barry 9, Tech 7
  • T8 - Dyson Joseph doubled to lead off the inning and stole third. He scored on a wild pitch. After a double by Smith, Tralongo smashed a two-run homer. | Barry 12, Tech 7

  • T9 - Heffner led off the ninth with a solo shot. After sequential walks to Joseph, Hatfield and Santiago, Smith knocked in a run with a ground out and Tralongo walked to re-load the bases. Mendez reached on an error by Panther pitcher Preston Houvouras, that allowed all three base runners to score. Mendez scored on a wild pitch. | Barry 18, Tech 8
  • B9 - Anthony Fimiano doubled in Patrick with the final run. | Barry 18, Tech 9

NOTEWORTHY:

  • Matthew Devine (1-0) got the final out of the sixth inning from the only batter he faced to get the win for Barry.
  • John Perozzi worked the final three complete to earn his seventh save. He allowed two runs on three hits and a walk and struck out three.
  • Reliever Noah Steckley (2-3) took the loss for Tech. He allowed four runs on six hits and a walk in 1.2 innings.
  • Heffner went 4-for-5 with two homers and three RBI to lead Barry at the plate.
  • Smith added three hits, including a double and a homer and drove in four.
  • Santiago scored four times, while Tralongo and Mendez each scored three.  
  • Cortale and Patrick each had two hits for Tech. Crotale drove in three and Patrick two.
  • The 18 runs are a season-high for the Bucs, topping the 17 they scored against St. Michaels on Mar. 6.

ON THE HORIZON:

Barry closes the season at conference-leader Tampa next Thursday and Friday.
