Men's Volleyball Sweeps Tigers for 16th Win

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. -- A Friday night men's volleyball matchup from the Adams-Jenkins Complex saw the Buccaneer sweep the Tigers for their 16th victory of the season. Barry picked up their 13th sweep in the process.

HOW IT HAPPENED:

  • Set One The Buccaneers earned the first point of the match going down the middle of the court with an Elias Fuhrer kill. Barry jumped out to a 9-3 lead and didn't look back. Fuhrer and Jacob Strnisa combined for the big block to end the set. The Bucs had 14 kills while swinging .323 and held the Tigers to a sub-100 attacking percentage. | Barry 25, EWU 19
  • Set Two – Another quick start for Barry had them up 6-0 to start the second set. Joao Piazza Baumgartem held service while leading the offense to four straight kills. The Bucs cruised to a two set lead taking advantage of six attacking errors from Edward Waters. It was an efficient set for the offense who hit over .400 and had just two errors on 23 swings. | Barry 25, EWU 17
  • Set Three – Edward Waters got the first point in the set of the first time all match. There was a combined five service errors in the first eight points, Fuhrer did collect an ace in the process. After a 4-4 stalemate, the Bucs strung together four straight points to can space on the scoreboard. Barry grabbed an eight point lead at 18-10 with kills from Philip Tein and Tomas Pastika to to aid in the run.Julian Gonzalez delivered the final kill | Barry 25, EWU 18

NOTEWORTHY:

  • Jacon Strnisa had an efficient night putting away nine kills on 15 attempts without a single error.
  • Bobby Clapp had a great night in the back row with 12 digs and six assists.
  • Nine different Buccaneers recorded a kill in the contest.
  • The Bucs dominated in all categories statistically.

The Buccaneers will close out the week with the backend of the two game stint in Jacksonville against the Tigers.
