Men's Volleyball Rides Four Match Win Streak

Eight of the nine victories have been a sweep for Barry

MIAMI SHORES, Fla. - The Barry Men's Volleyball team continues to roll with their fourth straight victory. It ties the longest win streak of the season. The Bucs sweep Jamestown for the second time and are one win away from tying the program record set last year at 10.

HOW IT HAPPENED:

  • Set One - It was a hot and fast start for Barry as they jumped out to an 8-1 lead. Joao Piazza Baumgartem held service for all of that run. The set ended with five straight from the Bucs as Zachary Jabr had three of those kills. Barry hit .375 in the set with 12 kills and had four blocks. | Barry 25, Jamestown 12
  • Set Two - William Phinizy got the first kill for Barry to grab the lead first. Four more points were strung together to make it 6-2. The big break away came at 15-7 when the Bucs had seven straight as Jeremy Ferreira had a service ace to cap off the run. Jacob Strnisa closed out the set with a kill to take a two-set match lead. It was another negative hitting set for the Jimmies as they had 10 attacking errors alone with four service errors to aid in the fall. | Barry 25, Jamestown 15
  • Set Three - Jabr continued his run into the third set with the first kill with Strnisa to follow for the 2-0 lead. Jamestown hung in and had the set tied late at 18-18. Barry ended the set on a 7-1 run to close out their fourth straight sweep. A red card given to the Jimmies head coach in which award the Bucs the final point. | Barry 25, Jamestown 19

NOTEWORTHY:

  • Strnisa led the offense with 13 kills and hitting .450 adding three blocks and six digs.
  • Jabr had nine kills and hit .533 with three digs and two service aces.
  • Maddox Gifford led the block with four.
  • Piazza Baumgartem quarterbacked the offense to 29 assists on 37 kills. He also had six digs.
  • This was the eighth sweep of the season, making 89-percent of the victory via a sweep.
  • Statically the Bucs dominated the box score at 37-19 in kills, 7-4 in blocks, and 33-19 in assists.

UP NEXT:
Barry will travel to Jacksonville next week in their lone match against Edward Waters on Friday, February 20.
