MIAMI SHORES, Fla. – Another week, another AVCA/Taraflex Coaches Poll comes out and has the Buccaneers up two sports, breaking into the top-10. This is the highest ranking for the team since the 2023 preseason poll (6th). It is the highest in-season ranking since 11/23/2004 (3rd).
The Buccaneers went 2-0 at the Embry-Riddle Invitational sweeping Seton Hill and defeating Lewis in four sets. Valeriya Kozlova was a standout with 35 kills against Lewis for a career-high and team high this season. It tied for fourth most for a Buccaneer in four-set match and fifth most for a SSC player in a four-set match. Kozlova would move on to win Sunshine State Conference Offensive Player of the Week honors with this performance.
Barry has a 21-2 set record on the year with five sweeps. They join three other SSC schools in the top-10 with Lynn (1st) and Tampa (3rd). The Buccaneers have the second best hitting percentage in the country at .337. Veronika Eremeeva is ninth in the country in aces per set 0.86 and fourth in points per set with 5.50. Kozlova is eighth in hitting percentage at .436.
The Bucs begin SSC action this weekend taking on Nova Southeastern from the Health and Sports Center on Friday night and turning it around to travel to no. 1 Lynn on Saturday afternoon.
