MIAMI SHORES, Fla, – Barry University Men's Volleyball looks ahead to their second season in program history. Lead coach, Imanol Davila-Morales announces the 2026 slate as he enters his first season with the Buccaneers. This year's schedule features 17 home matches in the Health and Sports Center Gym, two being exhibitions.
"I'm excited for the upcoming season; the schedule is exactly what we need to be to get where we want to be," stated Coach Davila-Morales. "We're a still new program that will make leaps and these great programs will be a testament to us before we can continue climbing up the ladder."
The season officially opens on January 12th as the Buccaneers will travel to Lake Wales to take on Coach Davila-Morales' alma mater, Warner. The road trip continues with a trip to Chicago later that week for a two-match stint against Roosevelt.
Their first home match is on January 23rd where Barry is set to play Lees-McRae for the first meeting. They will play on back-to-back days. Another quick weekend trip is set to close out January in Fort Valley taking on Fort Valley State.
February features five different opponents, doubling up matches against Emmanuel, Jamestown, and Quincy. Sneaking in between the matches is a solo match against Webber International and Edward Waters.
A nine-match home stint kicks off on the tail end of February with two against Quincy, two against King, a solo against LIU Brooklyn, a double against Manhattan, an exhibition with Millenia Atlantic, and closing out against Webber International.
March closes out with a road trip to Jacksonville taking on LeMoyne-Owen and Edward Waters. The final home match will be against Warner before the Bucs head to the island of Puerto Rico to take UPR-Rio Piedras and UPR-Bayamon.
Barry will be facing eight new opponents this season, not including the two exhibitions between Lancaster Bible and MAU. Against repeat opponents, the Bucs will hold a 4-5 record.
Final thoughts from Coach Davila-Morales:
"Our program is excited, naturally the wins come from our culture and training not the day of the match, we've been executing the culture aspect in everything we do as a program, and our training has been going extremely well. Huge thanks to Coach Brian and shoutout to the team for being two percent better every day, we completed a very successful preseason, and it was thanks to the previously mentioned factors. We're ready for the upcoming season and honored to showcase the new and improved Bucs when the time comes."
